Christmas Lights and Xmas Markets
Swanage is first to ‘switch on’ its Christmas lights on 2 December.
Weymouth opens its festive season 3 December switching on the lights with a big town celebration and Wyke Square Christmas Fayre.
Dorchester illuminates with its Christmas Cracker event 10 December.
Corfe Castle folk gather in the village to turn on their Christmas lights 8 December (Date TBC).
Christmas in Weymouth
Weymouth’s BIG Christmas opens 3 December with the official lighting-up ceremony, craft fair, and entertainment from local choirs and dance groups. Weymouth’s ‘Real’ Ice Skating will stage performances before the open street rink is opened to the public up to 1 January. Father Christmas will be drawn to Cineworld by real reindeer before joining the penguins at Weymouth Sealife Centre Santa’s Cabin from 8 December (Date TBC).
All children love a pantomime, even the grown-up ones, so take a look at ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and other Christmas Shows at Weymouth Pavilion. We’ll all ‘see red’ on 17 December when hundreds of bearded ‘Santas’ participate in the annual 5k Christmas Pudding Run across Weymouth beach.

Dorchester’s Christmas Cracker

Swanage & Corfe
Swanage prepares for its Christmas celebration from 1 December, with Christmas illuminations and its ‘Pop up’ craft market along the sea front. The Swanage Steam Railway attracts children and grown-ups for its Santa Steam Specials to Corfe where Christmas lights will illuminate the village and local craft fayre from weekends from 2 December and Christmas Steam Specials daily 16 – 24 December.
